Pharmacy

It’s important to Bridgeway Health Solutions that our members receive drug therapy that is appropriate, high quality and cost effective. We work hard to ensure you have access to safe and effective medications that are medically proven to help you get healthy and stay healthy.

Bridgeway Health Solutions covers certain prescription drugs and over-the-counter drugs when prescribed by a Bridgeway Health Solutions provider. The pharmacy program does not cover all drugs.

Prescription Drug Restrictions and Limits

Some covered drugs may have additional requirements or limits on coverage. These requirements and limits may include:

  • Prior Authorization: Bridgeway Health Solutions may require prior authorization for certain drugs. You will need to get approval for drugs noted with a "PA" in the drug list or for any drugs not listed in the PDL. If you do not get approval, Bridgeway may not cover the cost of the drug.
  • Quantity Limits: For certain drugs, Bridgeway may limit the amount of the drug that our plan will cover. If you need a greater amount you will need to request a quantity limit.

The Preferred Drug List (PDL) is the list of drugs covered by Bridgeway Health Solutions. Bridgeway Health Solutions works with providers and pharmacists to ensure that medications used to treat a variety of conditions and diseases are covered. The PDL applies to drugs you receive at retail pharmacies. The Bridgeway Health Solutions PDL is frequently reviewed by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. The Committee promotes the appropriate and cost-effective use of medications.

All dosage forms and strengths of the drug cited are covered unless a note states that there is an exception. In additions, the PDL covers selected over-the-counter (OTC) products.
